Quarter IV


Quarter IV: General Information

This quarter will have many activities, including preparation for the First Communion, “Fiestas Tradicionales”, concerts, and many other activities; therefore, it is extremely important for students to use their agendas diligently to include all of their academic responsibilities as well.

This quarter, students will continue to practice the weekly study strategy, in addition to practicing a different weekly research strategy.


Quarter IV: Unit Project

Students will create a futuristic world in space by writing/creating stories, auto-biographies, problems, and inventions. Students will create a magazine that will include information about their new world.


Quarter IV:  Overall Topics
English 
·         Reads with appropriate intonation and pronunciation and shows comprehension of the text

·         Uses the future tense(will/ going to) appropriately in negative, affirmative and interrogative phrases

·         Determines the author’s purpose from scenes, clues or information from a text

·         Able to write structured paragraphs with clear sequenced ideas to produce creative and imaginative texts using new vocabulary

·         Establish the setting (time and place)in a given text and determines the plot

·         Uses and practices study habits given each week

·         Self-evaluates weaknesses and strengths in his overall English learning process (writing, reading, listening, speaking) and looks for strategies to improve on his weaknesses

Math
·         Students will construct bar graphs, line graphs and line plots to compare and contrast data (mean “average”, median (middle), mode (most frequent)  and range (difference between the maximum and the minimum) Helpful Mean, Median, Mode, Range Video and M M M Rap

·         Solves word problems  by finding  the perimeter and area of various polygons using a formula and verifies

·         Solves word problems by calculating the volume of rectangular prisms using a formula and verifies

·         Solves word problems by converting weight and capacity units (customary and metric) and verifies

·         Solves multiple step word problems by adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing and demonstrates an alternative way to solving the problem by verifying

·         Finds mistakes and makes corrections

Science
·         Use weekly research strategies and reflect on each strategy , in conjunction with and organized agenda
·         Collect factual information about space by using the weekly research strategy

·         Compare and contrast features and characteristics of elements in space

·         Shows understanding of the interactions, patterns, and cycles that exist  with the elements found in space (for example: moon phases, reason for the seasons) 

·         Creates a unique futuristic space environment with specific criteria

·         Performs experiments in the lab about space science and analyze the data using mean, median, mode and range to deduce conclusions

·         Analyze space technology and how these tools have influenced  our modern view on space science



Educación Física 
Este bimestre se hará énfasis en capacidades físicas por lo de las OLIMPIADAS GIMNASIANAS.

Sociales 
Durante el cuarto bimestre en el área de Sociales se trabajarán los grandes cambios en la historia de la humanidad. Se realizará un folleto y la línea del tiempo durante las clases.




EXPLORA ARTE 3° IV BIMESTRE
Entorno problémico: EL TIEMPO

Se trabajará el concepto de tiempo en el arte desde la perspectiva de las denominadas artes del tiempo (aquellas que se despliegan en un periodo lapso determinado) y de las que se refieren al tiempo como tema. Para esto se realizarán ejercicios de observación, definición, caracterización, identificación, clasificación, interpretación y crítica, así como de creación artística.
